The Department of Land Resources (DoLR), Ministry of Rural Development, is all set to launch the second batch of Phase 2 training under the NAKSHA (National Geospatial Knowledge-Based Land Survey of Urban Habitations) programme starting June 16, 2025. This capacity-building initiative will be conducted simultaneously at four Centres of Excellence (CoEs) across India—YASHADA (Pune), ATI (Mysuru), MGSIPA (Chandigarh), and the Northeast Region CoE (Guwahati). The training will be virtually inaugurated by Shri Manoj Joshi, Secretary, DoLR, on June 16 at 10:00 A.M. A total of 128 officers from around 74 Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) have been nominated for this intensive week-long programme focused on advanced geospatial technology. The sessions will offer hands-on training in high-accuracy land survey tools such as GNSS and ETS, Web-GIS applications, land parcel mapping, and the legal-administrative framework needed for efficient urban land records management. The NAKSHA initiative has already seen the successful training of 160 Master Trainers and 151 ULB officers in its earlier phases. Aimed at transforming urban land governance, the programme is currently being implemented across 157 ULBs in 27 States and 3 Union Territories. With India’s urban population projected to cross 600 million by 2031, NAKSHA seeks to modernize property surveys through technology-led solutions, ensuring accurate, accessible, and legally sound land records for the future.
