In a major boost to healthcare infrastructure for India’s labour force, Union Minister of Labour & Employment and Youth Affairs & Sports, Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya, today inaugurated a newly constructed 30-bedded ESIC Hospital at Kala Amb, Himachal Pradesh. Built at a cost of ₹100 crore, the hospital is designed to be upgradable to 100 beds and will serve over 1 lakh beneficiaries across Sirmaur and nearby districts. Equipped with key departments such as General Medicine, Surgery, Gynaecology, Orthopaedics, Ophthalmology, and Dental care, the hospital will offer both OPD and IPD services, featuring modern facilities including modular operation theatres, CSSD, and a medical gas pipeline system.

Highlighting the government’s commitment to workers’ welfare, Dr. Mandaviya announced that all ESIC hospitals with 200 or more beds will soon house medical colleges, with 40% of the seats reserved for the wards of insured persons. He stressed that no worker would be denied medical care, regardless of cost—even if treatment amounts to ₹1 crore. Citing a recent case where ₹2 crore worth of life-saving medicine was approved for a worker’s son, he reiterated that poverty should never be a barrier to treatment.

Describing the hospital as a “shrine to Shram Shakti,” the Minister praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi as the first PM to truly honour the dignity and contribution of the labour force. He also personally felicitated the construction workers involved in building the hospital, reflecting the government’s respect for their effort. Dr. Mandaviya affirmed that all vacant posts in ESIC hospitals will be filled on a mission mode to ensure timely and quality care for every worker. “A healthy workforce builds a healthy nation,” he said, underlining the broader vision of accessible, inclusive healthcare for all.
