In a powerful and visionary address at the joint 65th and 66th Convocation Ceremony of the International Institute for Population Sciences (IIPS), the Vice President of India urged graduating students to recognize their pivotal role in shaping the nation’s future. Addressing overjoyed students, faculty, and proud parents, the Vice President described the occasion not only as a celebration of academic success but also as an invocation of deep national responsibility.

He emphasized the significance of the triad of Demography, Democracy, and Diversity as defining pillars of a rising New India. Highlighting the critical importance of population data, he urged young demographers to act as bridges between raw data and meaningful governance. “Your analysis will shape policy, ensure equity, and counter demographic challenges like illegal migration and manipulated conversions,” he said, underlining the role of data in maintaining national integrity. The Vice President also endorsed the upcoming caste-based census, calling it a transformative step towards social justice, inclusive development, and targeted policymaking. He warned of orchestrated demographic changes driven by political or strategic motives and called for vigilant action against such trends. Stressing that democracy thrives only in peace, the Vice President praised India’s decisive stance against terrorism and reaffirmed that true peace is earned through strength. “India’s democracy is rooted in Sanatana Dharma — inclusive, compassionate, and resistant to expansionism,” he said. He called upon students to be lifelong learners, ethical leaders, and ambassadors of unity, adding, “Your degrees are not just credentials; they are moral compasses for nation-building.” Quoting Rajasthan’s warm cultural spirit, he concluded with an emotional invitation: “Padharo Mhare Desh.”
