The development of India’s first indigenous stealth fighter jet – the Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft (AMCA) – has received a significant boost. Defense Minister Shri Rajnath Singh has approved the execution model for this ambitious program, enabling both private and public sector companies to bid on equal terms. This decision marks a major step towards accelerating the ‘Aatmanirbhar Bharat’ mission and propelling India’s defense and aerospace industry to new heights. The Aeronautical Development Agency (ADA) will spearhead the project through an industry participation model. Eligible Indian companies can participate individually, as joint ventures, or as consortia, provided they comply with all applicable legal and regulatory requirements. Under the AMCA project, a next-generation fighter jet equipped with cutting-edge stealth and combat technology will be developed, poised to transform the operational strength of the Indian Air Force in the coming years. The ADA is expected to issue an Expression of Interest (EoI) shortly for the development phase.
