Union Minister for Labour & Employment and Youth Affairs & Sports, Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya, will inaugurate a newly constructed 30-bedded ESIC Hospital at Kala Amb in Sirmaur district on May 31, 2025. Built at a cost of approximately ₹100 crore, this modern healthcare facility is designed to be expandable to 100 beds and aims to significantly improve healthcare access for over 1 lakh beneficiaries across Sirmaur and nearby districts under the Employees’ State Insurance (ESI) scheme.

In a special tribute to grassroots contribution, Dr. Mandaviya will also honour the construction workers who helped bring the project to life. The G+2 hospital spans a built-up area of 16,293.30 sq. m., including dedicated space for staff quarters and support facilities. Initially approved in 2019 and with construction starting on March 28, 2022, the facility is now ready to deliver both OPD and IPD services across key departments like General Medicine, Surgery, Gynaecology, Orthopaedics, Ophthalmology, and Dental care. It also includes advanced infrastructure like a modular Operation Theatre, Central Sterile Services Department (CSSD), and a Medical Gas Pipeline System. Currently, over 4.1 lakh insured persons in Himachal Pradesh are covered under the ESI scheme, with more than 15 lakh beneficiaries receiving medical and cash benefits. The state’s ESI healthcare network includes 12 Branch Offices, 1 DCBO, 17 state-run dispensaries, and 28 tie-up hospitals for super-specialty care, alongside a 100-bedded ESIC Model Hospital in Katha (Baddi). The new Kala Amb hospital further strengthens this network, reflecting the government’s commitment to expanding affordable and quality healthcare to India’s working population.
